Last week cannabis proponents filed a motion with the ALJ assigned to oversee the rescheduling efforts claiming that DEA was biased and colluding with the leading opponent of the rescheduling effort, Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM). Yesterday, the DEA and SAM filed responses to the motion calling it a “sideshow” and “without merit”. Interestingly, however, SAM’s filing does not deny that its leader was in communication with government officials but rather argues that any communications were not improper under the relevant laws and regulations.
