Psilocybin or Magic Mushrooms Are the Next Legal Frontier

Cannabis Law PA attorneys, Judith Cassel and Micah Bucy, presented “Magic Mushrooms the New Legal Frontier” at the PBA’s Continuing Legal Education forum on November 22, 2023.  The presentation covered many of the most common psychedelics, including psilocybin or mushrooms.  Ms. Cassel and Mr. Bucy discussed the physical effects and medical benefits of these drugs.  They also spoke about some of the cutting-edge research that is being done with these drugs and the amazing results coming out of this research.  Researchers are finding that psilocybin can be a positive treatment for patients suffering from depression, anxiety, and suicidal tendencies.

These attorneys also discussed the legal frontier and the legal impacts of these research studies.  Mr. Bucy spoke on how Oregon and Colorado have already legalized psilocybin through ballot initiatives.  Ms. Cassel spoke on what is ahead for other states including Pennsylvania where several bills have been introduced related to these drugs.
